Welcome to the Wastewater Section

The Wastewater Section reviews plans and issues permits for On-Site Sewage Facilities (OSSFs) in unincorporated Harris County and reviews plan sets for Wastewater Treatment Plants in unincorporated Harris County. The permitting process also involves site inspections to ensure proper installation of OSSFs. Inspectors from this office also respond to citizen complaints concerning failing or overflowing OSSFs. Enforcement of Violations of State laws applicable to OSSFs generally takes place as misdemeanor violations handled in the Justice of the Peace Courts. Larger, more egregious cases can be sent to the County Attorneys Office for Civil Prosecution.
